The Crucial SSD and Toshiba 320GB drives are for purely comparative purposes; neither is really competing with the Corsair SURVIVOR 32GB.

The Corsair SURVIVOR's average read speed isn't bad when compared against the other flash drives, being almost double a cheap-and-cheerful PNY 512MB's. As a guide, you should be able to read/move an entirely-full drive's 32GB worth of content in around 25 minutes.

Taking the starring role is the Corsair Voyager 8GB, known for its speedy transfers.

Scary read speeds are exhibited by the Crucial 32GB SSD, but that costs some £319.

Writing speed isn't as sharp, falling behind a Class 4 SDHC's. It's still faster than a basic drive, of course, but you'll need almost an hour to fill the drive to the brim. Note the doubling of performance for the 8GB model.

Random access is where flash/solid-state drives shine like a beacon on a dark night. No moving parts mean that the flash devices can be accessed quickly, and the 32GB SURVIVOR falls nicely into line, returning a 1.4ms response time.

Summary

Not dwelling too long here, we see that the Corsair 32GB SURVIVOR's reasonably quick at reading but not so hot with respect to writing speeds.
