Keypad Events

Since the majority of people who will buy a Matrix Orbital LCD, will be a big kid who likes their gadgets, you just cant resit having some buttons to press. To setup the keypad you need to set some events within LCDC. Within the Screen Builder there is a button at the top of the window called Events. This is a similar process to building the screens apart from you are assigning actions to events. I tried something very simple to start off with to make sure I was correctly creating the events. I assigned the "Enter" button on the keypad to an action called Dsp -> Backlight On/Off

After applying these changes and starting the display from the main LCDC menu the "Enter" button on the keypad should now turn the backlight on or off. This was just a simple visual test to see it was working correctly. Obviously you can do more complicated events. After a bit of messing around I managed to get the winamp plugin working and was using the arrow keys to move to the next track in the playlist. This would be ideal for a home jukebox or even mounted in a dashboard of a car.

To get the keypad to work you need to set the parameters within the event building. When I pressed the "Enter" button within the LCDC test it returns a value J. Below is a list of the parameters for the keypad. Although these can change depending on how the screen is setup.
