Conclusion

Overall, reading this evaluation you may have gathered that this mouse is a great example of new technology in this specific market, and you would not be wrong - Logitech have raised the barrier when it comes to cordless mouse performance.

Cleverly packaged, and with out-of-the-box use, the MX1000 appeals to graphics professionals gamers and mainstream users alike; comfortable and easy to use, the SetPoint software only extends its functionality.

I, like many others used to baulk at the price of these items, thinking who in their right mind would spend £45 on a cordless mouse by Logitech, when you can pickup a basic cordless mouse for £10 at the local computer fair? Well the answer is simple, the mouse is probably the most used component of a PC user’s day, and you cannot underestimate the quality of the MX1000, the feel of the mouse itself, coupled with the very functional software makes browsing the web and playing your favorite game a pleasure, not a chore.

The MX1000 is an excellent product and it’s getting cheaper to buy as the technology becomes more commonplace. Do the palm of your (right) hand a favour, and make sure that the MX1000 features on your computer desk - you'll not be disappointed.

Pros:
Innovative
Excellent ergonomics
Excellent Battery Life
Solid Build Quality
Excellent overall functionality

Cons:
Version tested not designed for left-handed users
Industry leading technology can initially carry a price premium
Only works on Windows 98 onwards

Great looking product, but once again Logitech have discrimated against left handed users. I can can use a mouse right handed but why should i when i'm more comfortable using my left hand. Left handed users should boycott all logitech poducts regardless of how good they are. As for mice i'm going to stick with my Razer Diamondback.
I'll be ordering one of the Logitech mice with my new system. Bought one for Mrs F and she loves it.
“Only works on Windows 98 onwards”

How is that really a negative point?

Was the version on test really that matt effect finish that it looked in the photos? cos it's completely different to the version of the MX1000 I've got.. (will post pics when I get home..)
The version tested on the review was the green version, but due to the lighting it looks matt, it’s not the easiest thing to photograph :)

I take your point about the Windows 98 comment though, true the numbers may be limited, but at the time of writing I suppose it had more meaning, on reflection you may have a point, but hey, constructive Criticism is good

i proofed and sub'd the review Stoo, and when i read the line “Only works on Windows 98 onwards”, i assumed that the point of mentioning this was because it wouldn't work on Linux systems… my bad?
