We run the gaming benchmarks with a GeForce GTX 780 that removes many potential performance bottlenecks. Owners of Z77 boards needn't bother upgrading to Z87 if playing games is the main purpose of the PC, but anyone upgrading to a completely new PC should clearly consider Z87 before Z77 or any other performance chipset.
