One can almost ignore the red line. A GeForce 6800 GT's performance is simply indicative of what you can expect with double the financial outlay. After looking at the shading and fillrate tests on the previous page, comparative performance is just about where one would expect. The 9600 XT PCIe is around 30% slower than a 5900 XT PCIe

Turning up the heat by including 4X AA/8X AF causes both cards' performance to drop to slideshow levels at times, especially at 1280x1024 and 1600x1200. High resolutions and high image quality simply aren't good bed partners withcurrentt midrange cards based on older GPUs.
