Conclusion

...performance is solid at 1080p when using high-quality settings thus fulfilling the main aim of this card...

The GeForce GTX 950 is a welcome addition to the mainstream graphics fold.

The reduced-core GM206 die makes sense if positioned correctly, and PNY looks to do exactly that with a £130 card that arrives at retail at reference-like speeds.

Performance is solid at 1080p when using high-quality settings thus fulfilling the main aim of this card, but the heavily-overclocked nature of the competition and huge price concentration of other GPUs serves to put this particular GTX 950 in an awkward position.

We'd advise readers to pony up the extra £10-£15 for a full-on, better-performing, overclocked GTX 960, complete with Metal Gear Solid V, so a price drop might be necessary to make the PNY stand out in a crowded marketplace.

We'd also like to see the fan switch off at low loads and, while we're at it, higher out-of-the-box clocks in order to keep pace with others.

The Good

The Bad
Primed for 1080p gaming
Good choice of outputs
Overclocks well
Three-year warranty

UK price is an obvious issue
Stock-clocked speeds
Fan doesn't switch off
Other GTX 950s are OC'd

Hmmm. Looking to replace my 580 gtx soonish. Was hoping a 950 or 960 would be good enough to replace it but doesn't look like it based on these benchmarks. Guess I'll just have save up some more.
I am looking about for a new card to replace my now aging GTX 570, been looking into these but what is standing out at the minute for me looking on Scan is the 4Gb Gigabyte 960 Windforce OC coming in at £160.
You can get a 2GB GTX 960 OC with MGS V for £143 or so. Best mainstream card, IMHO.
