Unreal Tournament 2003

A different set of results this time. In the mid-range, fighting 9600XT, the XT's core clock advantage outweighs what's available on the memory side for 9800SE. With no IQ settings applied and less stress on the memory, 9600XT's core clock boost does the business in UT2003. When made to work a little harder though, 9800SE closes the gap handily, matching performance with the newly announced stablemate.

The 9800 Pro class fight is interesting too. The HEXUS max detail flyby test doesn't show up the difference between 9800 Pro and 9800XT too well, with the two sets of results much closer than before. Depending on how you play your games (the test is optimally setup for mid levels of AA and AF), you can see why 9800XT can appear like a giant waste of cash. A 9700 Pro on the graphs would illustrate that nicely, showing just how good the cheaper 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro are against 9800XT.
