Quake III has stood the test of time well. The same can be said of Croteam's Serious Sam engine. Lush backdrops, hectic gameplay and a never-ending list of enemies makes it a perfect candidate for the trigger happy individual. The publicly available demo (v1.05) contains the used Sierra De Chiapas demo. The benchmark is set to extreme quality mode and anisotropic filtering is disabled until needed.
This demo favours the FX 5900 architecture, yet it would be comical to call the ATi duo slow.
The benchmark, for want of a better word, becomes 'sticky' in places at this higher, taxing setting. Looks a million dollars, though.
39.8 FPS doesn't correctly spell out the enormous hurt put on the FX 5900 here. Would you really use these settings for a game ?. Of course, if the card was up to it, but no card in our illustrious quarter is. The NVIDIA cards continue to steal a small march on the competition.
