Quake III
Quake III, the golden oldie, takes centre stage. Patched up to point release 1.30 in order to keep some form of consistency with older results, it's run at the predefined high quality mode. Demo Four is used.
The benchmark takes a battering from the powerful quartet in standard mode.
Even raising the image bar a few notches does little to handicap these bandwidth and pixel-pushing monsters. The obvious fact is that a modern, midrange card can more than cope with Quake III.
Savage settings but exemplary performance from the NVIDIA cards. In a word - fast. Remember the slowdown in play when the action and player got heated ?. That's a difficult situation to engineer with any of these cards strapped into a powerful system.
