Futuremark 3DMark AMD Platform
The numbers were impressive from the Intel-based machine, but what will an XP2700 coupled with the latest nForce 2 motherboard from MSI make of it all. Only one way to find out.
We can take a few points from these graphs. Firstly, if the Ti 4200 is entirely standard in its default clocks (250/513) then the benchmark results fall within the expected range. The cards produce extremely similar results and their associated positions in the graphs are more down to luck than anything else. Clock speed pays, obviously. The ABIT OTES shows this in emphatic fashion. I'm a little surprised that the Albatron Turbo, with its faster memory, didn't take out a larger lead over the rest. The fact that it, along with the Creative, is the only 4x AGP card might explain why.
Another pleasing feature for AMD fans is that this particular combination was a little faster than its Intel counterpart. I'm pretty sure a 3.06GHz P4 would have gained parity. It's nice to see AMD putting up a strong showing again.
