Benchmarks - Batman: Arkham City

Review: HEXUS.net/qa7so | Where2buy: amazon.co.uk

Batman: Arkham City is a class above many games in the action-adventure genre, marrying gorgeous graphics and strong level design with potent storytelling and a kick-ass selection of gadgets and moves. It looks great in DX11, too.

Average fps performance

The TOP provides GTX 680-beating figures in Batman: Arkham City, too. Super-smooth at the 1,920x1,080 setting and adequate at 2,560x1,600, let's see how it pans out in the per-second analysis.

Per-second performance

Ah, here the single-GPU TOP is clearly better in the second half of the test. Its larger memory buffer and lack of reliance on SLI means that, out of the two, while the average framerates are similar, the GTX 670 TOP is the better bet for smoother gameplay.

Taking the GTX 670 TOP first, the vast majority of frames - 96.32 per cent, in fact - are rendered in 33ms or less. Put it another way, only 3.72 per cent of frames take longer than 33ms (equates to 30fps). Indeed, 95th frame percentile is at 29.66ms.

Meanwhile, while the GTX 560 TOP duo can throw out a bunch more low-latency frames, they don't do anywhere near as well with slower frames, as almost 10 per cent of the total frames take longer than 50ms to render. The 95th percentile here is a slow 57.86ms. Given a choice of gaming out of these two, priced similarly, we'd always go for the single-GPU GTX 670 TOP.
