Benchmark: 3DMark 11

3DMark 11 is the latest version of this hugely-popular synthetic benchmark. Making use of DX11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading, it provides modern-day results and is available as a free download.

Some of the high-end cards on offer are so tightly packed that a little overclock here and there can make all the difference.

The stock-clocked Radeon HD 7870 scored well in 3DMark 11, but by applying an out-the-box overclock, the Gigabyte and PowerColor cards are able to leapfrog both the pricier Radeon HD 7950 and the GeForce GTX 580.
