Image quality

A set of screengrabs from Half-Life 2 to determine basic image quality in this popular game.

Firstly, Half-Life 2 with no AntiAliasing or Anisotropic Filtering on the PNY Verto 6600 GT card at 1024x768. Clickety click to enlarge.

The same on the ATI Radeon X700 PRO 256MB card.

Can't see much of a difffence, can you?

The same test but this time with 2x AntiAliasing and 4x Anisotropic Filtering

Notice how much more of the tiles' detail is visible and how the bannisters are smoother?

Much the same for the Radeon. There's very, very little difference between the two sets of outputs, and the effects of jpeg compression on the larger image still fails to show any real differences. There's literally no way you can tell which GPU is in the PC when playing this fast-paced game.
