Thoughts

So while I wait for the hardware I described on the first page of this article, GeCube's X850 XT will do nicely. For the performance, it's hard to argue with the £370 asking price, in the face of what you get for the same money invested in NVIDIA, right now. It's close to X850 XT PE money, but then again, it is an XT PE in all but name. That it ships with an inspired cooler, one that bring back the essence of the initial X800 XT PE design, is all the better. I also get the dual DVI ports and VIVO ability I crave, for good measure.

There's not much more to say about the card, really. It's light on games in the bundle and the presentation needs a rethink, but I can't think of anything that counts against it otherwise. So, pair it with Rivatuner for arguably the best high-end performance board on PCI Express that money can buy. To sum up, it's the mighty R480 core in full four quad mode with a cooler to make it all worth it, that'll do XT PE speeds without question.

If you have the money, it should be top of your shopping list. Thankyou, Jeff Yu. Enough said.

Serene Hsu, GeCube's Sales and Marketing Manager, had this to say about the article.

As Hexus pointed out when the card launched, ATI's Radeon X850 XT PE is the fastest graphics card in the world. In our own testing - across a spread of 20 leading games - this card wins the vast majority of head-to-head tests with the competition's closest product. What is more amazing is that the traditional competitor now costs up to #70 more than the GeCube solution. This new price from GeCube puts the X850 XT PE in a similar price bracket to the 6800GT ! The price is also similar to a 6600GT SLi set-up, but the X850 XT PE is much, much quicker. We are very proud that the GeCube card managed an average of almost 60 frames per second in Doom 3. The in-game frame limit is 60 frames per second and our X850 XT PE delivers that level of performance - on average - throughout the whole game. If you are serious about gaming, then you must consider the X850 XT PE from GeCube at only £320 excluding VAT !
Ebuyer will be stocking the board in due course and I'll update you with a direct link when I've got it.
