Thermal Performance

The Evo Blue proved that the core of the cooler is a decent performer, delivering respectable temperatures under idle and load. As well as having a favourable impact on the temperature readings of the motherboard, the fan also significantly helped keep down the power-supply readings.

Under load the Evo Blue managed to return a reading of 61 degrees on the CPU, placing it in mid-table. Overall, the thermal performance was pretty respectable.

Conclusion

While the whole plastic-shroud thing on the Evo 98/Blue is still bothering us, the Blue did return pretty decent thermal results, although we can't help but think that it would have done much better with an open-fin design.

The availability and package of the Evo Blue is what adds to its appeal. Everything you need is in the box and its pretty straight forward to install, if a little fiddly.

With a fan in place, it's clear that the Evo core is by no means bad. Good availability and a keen e-business selling price are other factors making the Blue worthy of consideration.
