Ultimate HARD DRIVE Cooler

To Install:-
1. Unscrew the case
2. Remove HARD DRIVE
3. Screw down the metal screws
4. Place HARD DRIVE in, and screw up
5. Replace in to case
6. Screw the case back together and your done

The white front panel there is a large cylinder shaped fan, this moves the slowest out of all the coolers which we tested today but it was one of the most efficient. It was very quiet, the fan pushes a lot of air over the drive keeping it cool, it pushes a lot of air even thought the fan is not very powerful. The only issue with this drive is that it sticks out from the front of the PC a fair distance.

Specifications:-
-
Two 45mm x 20mm ball bearing fans
- Large Blue Heat sink
- Will fit any 3.5 Drive and double sized drives it works, the grill on this cooler (which you can install or not I decided not to due to it failing to align properly) are 2 x 45mm sq fans, they are very powerful and they push air over the drive and also the heat sink.

Which is in total contact with the top of the drive, the user could put some thermal paste here, but I didnt see the need for it as the drives were extremely cool after testing. The cooler comes with one off the nicest heat sinks Ive ever seen and fits perfectly onto most hard drives, also some double size drives. The cooler also comes with 2 high powered fans which are fitted onto the front of the heat sink and blow air onto the hard drive and heat sink. There is also a grill included. I managed to get hold of another one of these coolers and they didnt align properly which I was not happy about ;( While a cooler wont make the drive any faster, it will make the drive last longer and generally stay healthy by removing some of the heat that builds up on it.

Ultimate hard drive cooler Testing

I installed this on the Viking 2, which I am using for all of the hard drive coolers in the shoot out, It was slightly louder than the IStorm but, But I was again impressed, I again ran the HARD DRIVE doing a defrag and scan disk of windows then in to 4GBs roughly of mp3s being copied across, It performed brilliantly here are the results:- My tests showed excellent cooling performance. The cooler will definitely be
sufficient to cool even the fastest drives. I tested it with my Viking LVD drive (it gets VERY HOT!), and the temperature (measured on the bottom of the hard drive cooler) never exceeded 30°C.

To increase the performance of the cooler you could try putting some thermal grease in-between the heat sink and the top of the hard drive to try to help the heat transfer.

This cooler is a mere $22 the Ultimate hard drive cooler is a small price to help your hard drive last longer. If you have just spent vast amounts of money on your new top of the line Hard drive

Pros:
-
Great cooling
- Looks cool
- low noise fans

Cons
-
Takes up a 5.25 Drive bay
