Final Thoughts and Rating

...performance is strong and the use of high-quality German components has resulted in good build quality, but the package as a whole suffers from awkward installation, excessive noise and a lofty price tag thought to be in the region of £110.

The Eisberg Prestige 120L is an ambitious product for Cooler Master, and based on what we've seen thus far, it's not without the teething issues that typically plague first-run products.

To Cooler Master's credit, the manufacturer has repeatedly delayed the cooler as it irons out the kinks and aims for perfection. Right now, performance is strong and the use of high-quality German components has resulted in good build quality, but the package as a whole suffers from awkward installation, excessive noise and a lofty price tag thought to be in the region of £110.

There's room for improvement, but we appreciate the fact that Cooler Master is attempting to do something a little different. A high-quality, factory-filled unit that's modular in nature may appeal to the target market of extreme users who want to have the opportunity to add other hardware to the loop. But herein lies another problem; these hardcore users typically have the budget and know-how to source the components and build the loop from scratch.

Cooler Master has its work cut out in making the Eisberg Prestige 120L quieter, cheaper and easier to install, but even if it manages to do all that, it's attempting to launch a product into the space between simple closed-loop coolers and intricate DIY solutions. Trouble is, does that space actually exist?

The Good

Powerful 3,600RPM pump
Quality Alphacool radiator
Loop can be upgraded and customised

The Bad

Awkward to install
Looks big and bulky
Bundled fans are loud
Basic two-year warranty

upon first seeing it: “ooh, a non asetek all in one, that looks interesting”

upon reading the review: “they should have just gone with an asetek rebadge”
Nice idea, very poorly implemented by Corsair.
