Conclusion
...sounds promising in theory, but a couple of missteps have prevented the ROG Ryujin from living up to its potential.Asus has entered the liquid-cooling arena with an ultra-high-end solution aimed at enthusiasts who are looking to complete a Republic Of Gamers build.
Priced at a jaw-dropping £232, the ROG Ryujin 360 is a flagship model carrying three unique attractions; bundled 120mm Noctua fans; an OLED display; and a pump-embedded fan designed to cool the area around the CPU socket.
All three additions have promise, but implementation in what is Asus's first attempt leaves room for improvement. The OLED display could be bigger and brighter while offering more customisation, the 60mm pump fan is too noisy for our liking, and the accompanying software feels rough around the edges. There is scope for all-in-one coolers to raise the bar in terms of aesthetics, and though this first-gen effort falls short of the mark, we're intrigued to see if Asus can tweak some of the identified issues for a second-gen revision.
Bottom line: a premium liquid cooler bundled with Noctua fans sounds promising in theory, but a couple of missteps has prevented the ROG Ryujin from living up to its potential. At this price point, you're better off exploring a custom loop.
