At this week's Storage Expo show at London Olympia, Broadcom has been demonstrating a RAID solution it reckons lots of rivals are talking about but none can yet show, never mind deliver.

That solution is serial-attached SCSI Raid on a PCI Express card - not PCI-X - and this full-hand of features is built into two of Broadcom's latest families of cards, the software-controlled RAIDCore BC5000 and hardware-controlled RAIDCore BC5500.

Both are so new that you'll find no mention of them on the company's web site. Even so, Broadcom not only had cards running on its own stand but also on Enlight's, where there was a 20-drive NAS box - the ESR420 - put together by Broadberry Data Systems.

Oh, and since there's nothing on Broadcom's site about the BC5000 and BC5500 - and since Storage Expo finished today - we've put more detailed info over in HEXUS Press Releases. This was scanned from the product-briefing document that Broadcom was handing out at the show.
