OCZ's rapidly-expanding range of solid-state drives (SSD) is showing no signs of abating. Just days after the company's Vertex and Agility refresh comes along another revamped drive - the Colossus LT.

The 3.5in solution, pictured above, arrives as the SATA II successor to the original Colossus but now comes armed with 34nm MLC NAND Flash memory.

Dual Indilinx controllers are used to create an internal RAID 0 configuration, and OCZ quotes maximum read and write speeds of up to 260MB/s.

Available in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities, it's a solution aimed at delivering "exceptional performance for high-end desktops", but you can expect to pay handsome figures for the rare combination of both capacity and Flash-based speeds.

Ready for it? SCAN.co.uk has the 250GB, 500GB and 1TB drives available to pre-order at costs of £661.20, £1,294.46 and £2,793.81, respectively. Out of reach for most users, and we reckon those without a budget are likely to opt instead for the quicker Z-Drive.

So £2.64/GB, £2.59/GB and £2.79/GB (assuming you mean GB and not GiB/TiB etc.)

That's about on par with the Intel drives. Just a larger initial layout. I know what I'd want instead with my £660/1300/2800 though.
