Instant appeal?
Google has rolled out Google Instant for smartphone users in the UK.
Just like the desktop version, mobile users are able to type and see predictions of what they might be searching for.
The search giant launched its latest search tool for mobile users in the US as a beta version back in November but had vowed to roll it out worldwide in different languages.
And Google has kept its promise as Google Instant is now available in 28 languages and 40 countries across the globe, according to its blog.
The only snag is that UK users eager to get their hands on Google Instant on their phone will need a handset powered by Android 2.2 Froyo or iOS4.
Google software engineer Steve Kanefsky has instructed would-be users to visit google.com in their mobile browser where they will be redirected to their local domain, then to tap the Google Instant link beneath the search box, to switch the predictive tool on.
Google previously wrote in a blog: "Results for the first prediction appear automatically, and tapping on the other predictions will display those results. Pressing the enter key or the search button skips the predictions and will display results for exactly what you've typed."
The search giant reckons users will ‘probably see a big improvement in speed' due to AJAX and HTML5 functionality for mobile that updates the page with new results and stops the need to load a fresh page for each query.
