The new version, 3.0.1, will now be able to run in the background, allowing iOS 4 users to send tweets whilst switching in and out of other applications, negating the need for users to re-launch the app every time they want to check Twitter.
Boasting lush graphics to suit the impressive Retina display, Twitter vows the new application is ‘more secure’ as it uses OAuth for all Tweets and photo posting with Twitter and hosting partners.

Version 3.0.1 also promises to fix the irritating ‘stuck top tweets’ bug plaguing current iPhone Twitter application users.
It features realtime search, top tweets and trending topics as well as maps to show users what is happening nearby. The re-vamped app is available free via iTunes.
