Apple has rolled out iTunes 9.2 for public consumption ahead of availability of the hugely popular iPhone.

The update’s primary focus appears to be iOS 4 and iPhone 4 support, with just one week to go until the phone is shipped to eager early adopters.

As well as readying iTunes for the new software and fixing bugs, the new version of Apple’s digital media application adds support for iBooks 1.1 so users of the iPhone and iPod touch can read, well, books.

It will also organise and sync PDF documents as books, plus allow users of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to read any PDF.

The Apple iTunes 9.2 update is available now via Software Update or Apple’s site for both Macs and PCs.
