Patriot act-ivity

Showing off the potential benefits at an interservice/industry training, simulation and education conference this week, Lockheed Martin demonstrated its first ESP-based product, featuring a single-engine turboprop passenger and cargo aircraft known as the PC-12.

The software, the Pilatus PC-12 desktop trainer, is apparently very useful in letting troops practice missions from the safety of their own desk.

For anyone who thinks that's rather quick for a firm which has only just licensed the product, bear in mind that Lockheed Martin has been using ESP since it was launched in 2008.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed but David Kaefer, general manager of IP licensing for Microsoft, did tell Network World his firm would receive "financial consideration" from Lockheed Martin.

Good to know it's not all based around Microsoft patriotism then.
