The SP strikes back
You'd have thought Microsoft would've got the hang of making operating systems by now, but the public availability of the second service pack produced for Vista...this year implies otherwise.
Couple this with the likelihood of Microsoft's next OS - Windows 7 - being released within three years of Vista's unveiling, and you can't help feeling that history won't be kind to Vista.
Anyway, you can't say Microsoft hasn't been trying to improve the maligned OS and tomorrow you'll get the chance to assess its latest efforts in the form of Vista SP2.
In a blog post, Windows product management VP Mike Nash stressed this Beta is for techies only, so we'll let you be the judge of whether or not you qualify.
Nash also said it: "...incorporates improvements discovered through automated feedback from the Customer Experience Improvement Program (where users voluntarily opt-in to sending Microsoft error reports from their systems). In addition to these updates, SP2 also includes support for new types of hardware and emerging standards that will grow in importance in the coming months."
You can access the Beta here and get more detail about what lies in store for you here. Let us know how you get on in the HEXUS.community.
