Having shown a glimpse of Windows 7's sex appeal at PDC 2008, Microsoft can now expect developers the world over working to bring 7-exclusive features to the Vista faithful.

One of the first already on offer is AeroSnap, a small application developed by Christian "edgi" S that adds Windows 7's snap-to functionality to Windows Vista.

Once installed, dragging any window to the top of your screen will maximise it, and taking it to the left or right will snap it to the side and re-size at 50 per cent for easy side-by-side tiling. Here it is in action:

Looks pretty handy, but users should be aware that they may experience the occasional error as AeroSnap is currently only available in beta form. We can expect many other Windows 7 imitations over the coming weeks, we're holding out for VistaPeek and Vista7Taskbar.

Excellent this will be very handy for me.

Works a treat on XP, haven't had the chance to test it on vista yet.
Pff give me a break, how is that any more amazing than just pressing the ‘maximise’ button? In fact it's actually more effort!

Double clicking the Title bar does the trick too…
It looks like one of those “cool” things that you will never use… like that 3d window shuffling thing in vista - who honestly uses that over alt tab? I think we should label this stuff crapware lol…
Its very handy if you regularly want to for example have half of the screen for your browser and the remaining half as msn convo's. This apps purely saves time resizing windows accordingly. Then when you drag them away they resize back to normal size :)
