Computer accessories and input devices specialist Logitech has announced what it calls the "most advanced mechanical gaming keyboard in the world". The new keyboard is dubbed the 'Logitech G910 Orion Spark' and utilises mechanical keyswitches, RGB key illumination, the usual gaming keys, macros and other gaming focussed niceties.

Vincent Tucker, director of Logitech gaming, informs us that the G910 Orion Spark is the fruit of "years of ongoing development by our engineering team, incorporating feedback from gamers and eSports athletes". Thanks to this development and consultation Logitech has created "a next-generation mechanical key" and this keyboard which "truly improves the gaming experience".

A prime factor behind the Logitech G910 Orion Spark's performance is the aforementioned next-gen keyswitch. The "exclusive new Romer-G mechanical switches" are said to offer 25 percent faster actuation than any other mechanical switch, improved durability and intelligent Illumination characteristics. The Romer-G switches have an actuation point of 1.5mm and a durability figure of 70 million keystrokes - great for intense gaming…

Logitech quoted Andy Dinh, owner of Team Solomid, in saying that his e-Sports team "love" the new keyswitches and are "excited" to be using them in the League of Legends World Championship.

The RGB illumination on offer can be set up using a palette of 16.8 million colours in custom configurations as you please. Perhaps you want to highlight various commands in different colours and save these setups for different games. Logitech promises evenly lit centrally positioned individual key lighting. On the subject of key configurations Logitech's newest gaming keyboard also features nine programmable 'G-Keys' and supports up to 27 commands saved across three profiles.

On the software side of things Logitech Gaming Software allows you to save and edit profiles and there's a new companion app called 'Arx Control Integration' for smartphones/tablets which will offer "anything from in-game intelligence, to vital system performance stats, to media controls," on your mobile screen.

The Logitech G910 Orion Spark will become available in retailers in the US, Europe and select other countries from November with a suggested price of $179.99.

Smartphone standing upright, no WP app, 180 €, the more info I get to hear about this keyboard, the less I am tempted.
I don't know that I'll be spending that much, but I've been waiting for an RGB G710+ for ages. If I had enough money to blow £150+ on a keyboard and not notice, I would absolutely love this.

Mechanical + RGB customisable lighting + Logitech quality and support = me happy
Personally I think this looks hideous, especially the keycaps.
The G710+ wasn't enough to stop me buying the Corsair K70. I've also gotten the Corsair M65 to replace my broken G500.

Logitech is normally my go to brand for mice, keyboard and speaker recommendations due to their quality and support but I've gone with Corsair due to their impressive designs. I got the Corsair mouse because Logitech, which I know and love, have designs that aren't what I generally like, I'm a function over form person but at some point the design puts me off and Logitech managed to reach that point with their new designs; if I was going to get something wasn't visually appealing to me then I thought that I may as well try out the cheaper alternative in the Corsair M65.

I might of bought this keyboard if it was out sooner, but I think I would still have preferred the Corsair K70 due to the appealing design (simple and functional makes things so much easier, like cleaning). I think Logitech are trying too hard and as a result they have lost me as a long time customer (MX518, G5, G500) due to their weird looking designs and features that I am not bothered with.
Please for the love of all things heavenly.. please make these people put sleep hardware buttons on their keyboards !

I just don't get it !
