VIA Chipsets

VIA, like Intel and AMD, have let things slip from Q1 into Q2. K8T800 Pro is the most notable of those slips. Supporting Socket 754, Socket 939 and Socket 940, it's going to be most people's chipset of choice for their new S939 processors purchased in Q2, after their upcoming launch.

K8T890, the PCI Express version, is Q3 product.

PT890 is now a May (hopefully) product, supporting PCI Express (for graphics) and DDR-II for Intel's new and existing Pentium 4 processors (it supports both S478 and LGA775).

KT890 is going out to reviewers as we speak, bringing PCI Express (for graphics) to the 32-bit Athlon processor range. It's slightly strange that a somewhat dead platform in terms of future processor support might be the first PCI Express platform that some websites evaluate.

VT8251 should hopefully enter mass production soon for augmentation on new boards, bringing peripheral PCI Express (2x and 1x lane support), Gigabit Ethernet and high spec audio (192kHz sample rate and 24-bit resolution).

Summary

Lots of product slippage from my Q1 estimates, making Q2 the month for new VIA hardware on masse.
