Press Release

Memory specialist Hypertec is today launching its Firestorm range of hard drives, to offer a more secure, sophisticated and standardised range of external storage for consumers and SMEs.

Utilising industry-standard IDE and SATA technology, the Firestorm range includes the Desk Top Hard Drive, Dual Desktop unit and the Firestorm Notebook.

Firestorm Desktop Hard drive is available from 80GB to 1TB of capacity, and can transfer a 1GB file in under 2 minutes.

Firestorm Dual Desk Top comes in two versions.  Both use SATA drives and can be connected via high-speed USB2.0 and used as a normal, high-capacity, hard disk and treated as one volume
(JBOD).  The second version can also be connected by eSATA using a SATA interface (PCI-X) and can additionally support RAID0 and RAID1 for performance and reliability.

Firestorm Notebook unit, a USB 2.0 Plug-and-Play employing 2.5" IDE HDD technology - creating a pocket-sized portable solution that enables efficient and low-cost back-up or additional data storage. The notebook unit uses high speed USB2 and has a range of capacities (40GB – 160GB), so is suitable for many purposes. It also comes with a zipped wallet for protection when in transit.

Hypertec has developed the sophisticated Firestorm range to provide flexible storage, high-speed back-up and to offer total data protection. All products are housed in a stylish aluminium case and are equally suited for use as individual high capacity storage, a disk backup device for a departmental server, a file transfer system, or as a cache to store a specific set of data.

The Firestorm range is supplied with Syncback freeware software, which allows you to perform backups from system to hard drive: restorations from drive to system, and synchronise data between the two. This delivers fast back-ups, accurate restores and full disaster recovery with minimal manual effort or expertise. Bundled Truecrypt software enables you to encrypt data for more security, whilst

HDDErase allows users to sanitise their Hard Disks to ensure any sensitive data is thoroughly removed when no longer required, thus allowing redeployment.

In addition to this, all Firestorm units have a 'Hot Plug-and-Play' functionality, so you can (dis)connect them while your system is already running, saving you time and making them as easy to use as possible.

"More than ever, businesses and home office users are demanding more effective data protection," says Lianne Denness, managing director at Hypertec. "The combination of Hypertec's Firestorm solution with SyncBack, Truecrypt, and HDDErase software provides users with a standardised range of data protection that automatically conducts fast back-ups and smart restores, and helps protect sensitive data."

Bought singly or as a range, the sleek new Hypertec Firestorm units will look good and perform well in every home or office environment.  All are available now from Hypertec.
