PRESS RELEASE

New higher capacity USB 3.0 drives with increased read and write speeds

Düsseldorf, 5th September 2013 - Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched an updated range of Super Speed USB 3.0 [1,2]flash memory USB drives. The TransMemory-EX IITM drives feature increased read and write speeds and are available with capacities of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

Utilizing Toshiba's Double Data Rate (DDR) NAND, the new products can read or write 25GB of video content in approximately 5 minutes[3] - 22 times faster than with USB 2.0-based models. The drives are powered by the USB port and can read data at speeds up to 222 Mbytes/s[4].

The maximum write speed of the new flash memory drives is 205Mbytes/s[3], more than twice that of previous TransMemory-EXTM models[5].  Toshiba's new drives are fully backward-compatible with Hi Speed USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 standards[2].

The new flash memory drives support software that enables particular blocks of data to be protected with a password lock so files stored in that block cannot be accessed without the password.

In order to meet the needs of consumers looking for faster transfer rates and higher capacities, Toshiba will continue to promote innovations that widen the horizons of the NAND flash market and support the company's continued leadership in that market - including the introduction of new USB flash drives and memory cards.
