Sleek, lightweight HDD provides up to 1TB portable backup solution with added cloud storage and data security
19 June, 2013, Neuss - Toshiba Europe GmbH (TEG), Storage Peripheral Division, has today announced the enhanced version of the STOR.E Slim[1] portable external hard drive (HDD) with a larger capacity and additional cloud storage[2], which will give users secure access to their valuable digital content whilst on the move. Building on the award winning stylish design of the original STOR.E Slim, Toshiba has developed the HDD which not only looks the part, but also offers a large storage capacity of up to 1TB[3] with an additional 10GB of free cloud storage, making it a vital addition to any consumer's gadget collection.
As more and more aspects of our personal and professional lives become reliant upon digital technology, it is important we are confident that our valuable files are secure and accessible at all times. Research[4] shows that only 25 per cent of users frequently backup their files, yet 85 per cent of those same respondents say they are very concerned about losing important digital data.
Toshiba has developed the STOR.E Slim so backing up is no longer an issue. The HDD offers the most comprehensive protection for your data using NTI® Backup Now EZTM2, which scans your system and recommends the best backup coverage for you. Users can choose between backing up to the STOR.E Slim or backing up everything saved on the computer, or both options for the most inclusive protection. A backup can even be scheduled to run automatically at any time and day so that users can have total peace of mind knowing their data is always protected.
Toshiba have also provided users of the new STOR.E Slim with the option of 500GB or 1TB of storage capacity, which considering its tiny size, packs a punch. The 1TB STOR.E Slim is capable of storing up to a massive 571,000 digital photos*, 526,000 digital music files** or 1,640 downloaded digital movies***[5][6] perfect for even the largest of digital libraries. And, with both 3.0 and 2.0 USB compatibility the HDD provides rapid transfer speeds[7].
In addition to the large storage capacity of up to 1TB, the STOR.E Slim also comes with 10GB of free cloud storage using Pogoplug® PC, a cloud storage platform. Toshiba has recently partnered with Pogoplug® PC to provide owners of the new STOR.E Slim with a free subscription to the cloud platform and 10GB of cloud storage. This means that with remote access software from Pogoplug® PC users can access all their digital files stored on the STOR.E Slim from devices anywhere providing the HDD is connected to a computer in an internet environment.
The STOR.E Slim also features remote access, so if you are on the move and need to access your files it can be done so online from any device, making lost or forgotten files a thing of the past. And, because data today is such a personal and valuable part of our lives, the HDD comes with a password lock to prevent data theft. All this is wrapped up in the iconic silver brushed aluminium casing which replicates the award winning STOR.E Slim design, voted winner of the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards in 2013. The STOR.E Slim provides every data storage essential in a HDD no bigger than an iPhone 5.
