MiniStation ThunderboltTM SSD offers lightning-fast pocket-size storage performance

London, November 27 2012: Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of storage and wireless networking solutions, today launches phenomenally fast portable storage with its first portable SSD storage device - the MiniStation Thunderbolt SSD.

The handheld drive delivers "Read" performance of more than 370MB/s and "Write" performance that exceeds 250MB/s - more than double that of any other portable Thunderbolt storage product on the market.

The MiniStation Thunderbolt SSD has a dual interface that enables users to connect via Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 with backwards compatibility for USB 2.0. The Thunderbolt connectivity provides transfer speeds of up to 10GB/s, which is twice as fast as the quickest speeds possible through USB 3.0.

Mac and PC users, from gamers to business executives, are able to access and transfer all their important data and media files quickly and efficiently. The stylish, lightweight drive is ‘Mac-ready' with native compatibility for Max OS X Time Machine, and it is also compatible with Windows.

Paul Hudson, Sales Director for Northern Europe at Buffalo, said: "The MiniStation Thunderbolt SSD combines a highly robust and aesthetically pleasing design with exceptionally fast data transfer speed. It enables users to simplify connections and maintain compatibility with a large range of devices, including Mac and PC, making it the ideal portable backup solution. We have seen how Thunderbolt hard drives have transformed the available speed for read and write to storage devices, but with the additional of SSD in the Buffalo range, the speed stakes are raised again providing astounding performance."

The MiniStation Thunderbolt SSD is designed for compatibility for Mac OS X 10.6 or later, while USB 3.0 enables connectivity with Mac OS X 10.5 or later. The device is also compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP. The Buffalo device also comes with a 3-year warranty.

The MiniStation Thunderbolt SSD will be available from Buffalo's UK stockists at an MSRP of £229.99 for the 128GB product and£349.99 for the 256GB product.
