iStorage launches next-generation secure USB 3.0 hard drive with PIN code access

diskAshur delivers portable and rugged data protection with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity and up to 1TB capacity 

iStorage, a leading specialist in portable storage and digital encryption, has launched a USB 3.0 version of its successful 2.5" portable hard drive. The new diskAshur^® combines a comprehensive range of digital and physical data protection measures including military grade hardware encryption and an alphanumeric keypad for PIN code access. SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity and capacities of up to one terabyte (1TB), provide individuals and businesses with a robust and compact solution to data security¹.

diskAshur is available in capacities of between 250GB and 1TB and either 128-bit or 256-bit AES-XTS hardware encryption², and features a low-powered design for portable use. Furthermore, diskAshur encrypts data in real time and features a wear-resistant keypad with up to 16-digit alphanumeric PIN code access to secure against hacking attacks and keylogger attempts.

diskAshur also includes an administrator password feature to enable the setup of administrator access to the drive independent of the user password, allowing for the creation of up to 10 user PIN codes. A unique drive reset command that clears all PINs and on-board data and creates a new randomly generated encryption key, is a further enterprise-level feature. This allows individual drives to be reset and deployed by a corporate IT department as many times as required.

¹A recent survey of over 500 IT professionals conducted by iStorage at major IT conferences including Infosecurity Europe found that despite 98.6% of respondents believing data loss to be a serious and/or growing concern, 57.5% admitted the data they carried was not encrypted and nearly one-third (32.2%) of respondents admitted to having lost a portable device containing personal and/or company data.
