09 March, 2009 – Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of storage, wireless networking and memory solutions, today announces the launch of the TeraStation III, its newest high performance NAS device for SMBs and SoHos.
Offering high capacity storage options and fast working applications, the TeraStation III is available in either 2TB, 4TB, 6TB and 8TB capacities and features hot swap functionality and RAID redundancy. This addition to Buffalo’s portfolio of network attached storage devices will benefit businesses looking to maximise efficiency, reduce downtime and securely manage critical data.
Paul Hudson, Northern European sales director, Buffalo Technology, said: “SMBs are constantly seeking faster performance and higher capacity data management technologies to support their growing business needs. For those that require high capacity, easy to deploy and easy to manage networked storage, the TeraStation III is the NAS device of choice.”
The hot swap feature automatically powers down the drive in the unlikely event of failure, allowing the faulty drive to be safely removed and replaced without the loss of any data or the impact of downtime.
Ensuring that data remains safe at all times, the TeraStation III ships fully populated with all four hard drives thus permitting redundancy levels of RAID 0, 1, 5 or RAID 10 as standard. For businesses looking for ultra reliability, the Real Time replication function allows for the immediate and fast recovery of data with the connection of a second TeraStation III to give a resilient solution.
The TeraStation III’s key features include:
- High speed – Up to 60MB/s high speed data transfer rate and three times faster than the TeraStation Pro Series
- Reliability – The real time backup replication function allows for immediate, reliable and fast recovery from hardware failures
- Multiple Platform Support – Supports Wins, NFS & Mac clients including Apple Time Machine
- Easy setup –Intuitive Web interface and clear LCD status display ensures the units are simple to install and easy to manage
- Resilience – Hot swap functionality allows for the replacement of faulty hard drives without the unit being powered down
- Connectivity – Dual Ethernet for port trunking. Dual USB to provide a direct attached backup target
- Warranty – Three years
For those on the move, the WebAccess feature allows for remote access to the unit via PC, Mac or iPhone, and an in-built DLNA media server is also included.
Hudson added: “Packed with business enhancing features, the TeraStation III has been designed with ease of use, reliability and performance in mind. Those concerned with security will also benefit from the automatic disk encryption feature, which will ensure critical data is secured, stored and managed safely.”
For businesses conscious of their environmental credentials, the TeraStation III includes a power management system to conserve energy use. The unit automatically powers up and down with connecting clients, reducing energy consumption by up to 66 per cent and lowering CO2 omissions. A controlled fan with a thermal sensor and a high cooling capacity chassis also reduces noise, making it perfect for the small business environment.
