London, UK, 18 September 2008 – Buffalo Technology has given its flagship LinkStation Live NAS device a facelift and added a power saving function, to help consumers reduce power costs and do their bit for the environment. Buffalo has also enhanced the capability of its Web Access feature, to allow users to access and stream media content stored on the device via their Apple iPhone™, in addition to any PC or Mac web browser.

The intelligent power saving function allows the user to set timings, via the LinkStation Live web interface, to put the device in a low power “sleep” mode when not in use, reducing energy consumption of the idle unit. It can also be set to “wake up” at a certain time each day and the Auto Power On/Off function means it automatically turns on and off with your computer, to facilitate more efficient power usage.

The inclusion of a built-in BitTorrent Client also makes storing and accessing content extremely easy. By launching the client from the LinkStation Live interface on the PC, files can be downloaded directly to the LinkStation without the need for the PC to be on for the duration of the process.

The new look LinkStation Live also comes with Buffalo’s enhanced Web Access feature, which now enables users to access media content stored on the device through their Apple iPhone™. Content is accessed via the Apple iPhone™ by logging on to http://buffalonas.com and entering the registered name of the LinkStation. Users can then immediately connect to their digital content and choose to download files, stream music and videos, or view photos.

Other key features and benefits include:

  • Built-in media server to connect to DNLA compatible digital entertainment devices
  • Once touch transfer of media files from digital camera/camcorder via Direct Copy feature
  • Seamless integration with iTunes®7 to access music files on LinkStation Live from iTunes software
  • Easy set-up with no drivers required
  • Ability to expand capacity by adding USB 2.0 hard drive
  • Memeo AutoBackup Software for improved backup options for both Windows and Mac
  • 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet with JumboFrame support

The LinkStation Live is backed by a limited two-year warranty and is available from September from eBuyer, Amazon, Dabs.com and Misco at an estimated street price of:
