Optimised for Tablets and Smartphones
(London, December 18, 2013) - Security expert Avira announced today the official launch of Avira Android Security 3.0 for smartphones and, now, optimised for tablets. The free security app earned a 100 percent perfect detection score from AV-Test for its superior antivirus, and has surpassed two million downloads already.
Avira Android Security, powered by Avira's award-winning antivirus engine, automatically scans the user's mobile device for viruses, spyware, Trojans and other malware. Users can also block annoying contacts from calling or texting.
Additionally, users can log into my.avira.com to remotely locate their device (via GPS, WiFi or cellular signal) on a map or make it ‘yell' for attention if it goes missing (even if the ringer is turned off), and can remotely lock or wipe the device if it gets stolen.
The Avira Android Security app supports any smartphone running Android 2.2 (Froyo) or greater, and tablets running at least Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Avira Android Security has been tested to work on Samsung Galaxy, Google Nexus, Motorola Xoom, HTC Sensation, and many other devices from LG and Sony.

Avira Free Android Security 3.0 is available for free download at the Google Play Store; premium support can be unlocked with a paid subscription. The security app is currently localised for English, German, French and Italian.
