- Kodak announces the availability of Capture Software version 6.10 for both production and desktop/distributed scanner ranges- Kodak’s fastest production scanner, the i1860, which captures images at up to 200 pages per minute is now shipping
- Kodak will be demonstrating the i1860 at the AIIM Roadshow 2007 throughout the UK, April 30-May 4, 2007
April 30, 2007— Eastman Kodak Company’s Document Imaging Business is reaffirming its commitment to the high volume scanning market by broadening its production scanner portfolio with the introduction of the KODAK i1840 Scanner. The new scanner joins the recently introduced KODAK i1860 Scanner which just last month won the GCN Best of FOSE 2007[1] award for the scanner category and is now shipping globally.
All about maximising productivity, the KODAK i1840 Scanner captures images at up to 160 pages per minute, and offers a variety of ergonomic features including a user height-adjustable base to maximize productivity while operators either sit or stand. Research has shown a direct correlation between employee comfort and productivity especially when it comes to adjustable workstations. In contrast, the KODAK i1860 scans images at a rate of up to 200 pages per minute.
The i1840 also includes an intuitive colour touch-screen display to simplify on-the-fly performance by putting a variety of controls at the operator’s fingertips and the scanner has pre-scan or post-scan printing capability.
Richard Broden, EAMER Product Marketing Manager for Production Capture Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group, said, “When you have a recognised winner, you expand on it. The ultimate design critics – our end users - told us they wanted to see more scanners like the i1860 with exceptional ergonomic capabilities to help them operate more efficiently, but at a lower price point. We listened and gave them its ‘kid brother’ - the KODAK i1840 Scanner.”
The KODAK i1840 Scanner is an ideal solution for paper-intensive environments such as service bureaus and insurance companies that centrally process claims or financial institutions who handle high volumes of transactions such as loan and mortgage transactions which have a wide variety of document types, colours, weights and demanding duty cycles.
Other features include:
• Kodak’s Perfect Page imaging technologies for outstanding image quality;
• SurePath paper handling for easy document throughput;
• Three independent, ultrasonic, multi-feed detection sensors;
• Black or white background option;
• A 500-sheet feeder for optimum capacity;
• An output hopper that keeps documents in order;
• FIREWIRE connectivity.
New Kodak Capture software to support an ever growing document scanning portfolio
Both the new production scanners can be combined with the latest version of Kodak’s image capture software along with the recently launched new desktop workgroup and departmental KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series Scanners.
Available immediately, KODAK Capture Software version 6.10 now adds MICR code support - a critical function in the processing and sorting of cheques as it augments current barcode and zonal OCR indexing capabilities. Improved zonal OCR support enables the removal of unwanted and embedded spaces from OCR engine results -commonly referred to as kerning - ensuring extraction of only the most relevant content. Other new features include a page-limited version of the IRIS PDF output format for convenient and fast creation of fully searchable PDF files. This will now also be bundled with KODAK Capture Software supporting all KODAK Document Scanners.
Hauke Fast, EAMER Product Marketing Manager, Distributed Capture Products and Capture Software, Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group, said, "KODAK Capture Software continues to grow to meet the ever changing needs of users in paper intensive environments. The need for productivity and versatility - in both desktop distributed and production scanning environments - continue to be the primary drivers of these software enhancements.”
Pricing and availability
The KODAK i1840 Scanner will be available through the company’s channel partners during the second quarter of 2007, with the KODAK i1860 scanner available today priced at €79,990.
KODAK Capture Software is available today for all Kodak scanners starting at €399. In addition, Kodak offers multi-pack discounts for large-volume licences (50 and 100 seats) of KODAK Capture Software. The new multi-pack discounts lower the total cost of ownership for customers who deploy large numbers of scanners in their organisation.
Both scanners and the new Capture Software are backed by KODAK Service & Support, the benchmark service provider for the document imaging industry, named Best Support Organisation in the 2006 International Business Awards.
