PRESS RELEASE

United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, 2nd July 2012 - Canon, world-leader in imaging solutions, has today launched a new versatile and compact desktop scanner allowing partners to meet their customers' needs for decentralised capture and corporate office scanning. The imageFORMULA DR-C130 offers unrivalled value and performance with high-quality productive scanning, and incorporates a full suite of ‘out the box' scanning software.

Sean Suematsu, European Document Scanning Solutions Director at Canon Europe, comments, "The desktop scanner market offers terrific opportunity for our partners; where growth is forecast to be 11 per cent CAGR between 2011 and 20151 as organisations increasingly demand decentralised scanning solutions for the more efficient processing of paper-based information that originates at a branch office or remote location. This is particularly apparent in the insurance, banking and logistics sectors where compact, high-speed scanning solutions are being sought after. The imageFORMULA DR-C130 will enable partners to meet this demand and increase the document processing efficiency of their customers."

The imageFORMULA DR-C130 is also aimed at corporate and government organisations that need a powerful compact desktop scanner for their finance, HR or sales departments, or their branch offices that need to capture information quickly into central workflow processes to reduce time and save costs.

Sean Suematsu comments, "This reliable and powerful device supports the new environmental compliance ErP lot 6 which comes into effect in 2013 which enables partners to already strongly compete with the DR-C130 in project tendering processes. Partners can also create customised scan applications and solutions that enhance a specific organisation's document processes."

Enterprises, integrators and software developers are able to develop customised, web-based scanning applications and solutions that better support their customers' workflows. They have the option to install DR-C130 driver runtime controls supporting EMC Captiva Cloud2, streamlining the configuration process by providing web-based scanning, and avoiding the need to use ActiveX controls. A Software Development Kit plugin connector is also available for Independent Software Vendors to create a customised integration between Canon's CaptureOnTouch scan application software and their own software solutions for end-users.

The new desktop scanner comes with advanced document processing functions and a full-suite of professional scanning software, including CaptureOnTouch, CapturePerfect, eCopy PDF Pro Office, Kofax VRS, PaperPort, OmniPage and BizCard. Plugins for cloud-based connectivity with Microsoft SharePoint, Evernote and Google Docs are also integrated. The device represents an energy efficient solution that encompasses high speed, high quality duplex colour scanning  of up to 30ppm/60ipm, a user friendly experience and reliable feeding operation thanks to Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection and a double feed release feature.

The imageFORMULA DR-C130 will be available through selected distributor partners in the UK from the beginning of July 2012, priced at £605/€685 RRP.
