PRESS RELEASE

United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, 11th January, 2012: Canon, world-leader in imaging solutions, has today launched the industry's fastest USB powered portable scanner for its Partner channel. The new imageFORMULA P-215 builds on the success of the popular imageFORMULA P-150 and P-150M, allowing Canon Partners to grow their share of the booming portable scanner market. It also enables Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and Value Added Resellers (VARs) to develop customised scanning solutions to better support their customers' bespoke workflows.

A growing market opportunity for Partners

"Supporting mobile workers is a growing opportunity for Canon Partners," said Sean Suematsu, European Document Scanning Solutions Director, Canon Europe. "Our Partners are seeing more and more demand from businesses for the easy digitisation of documents outside of the office. Our new USB-powered P-215 scanner enables Partners to offer a highly productive portable solution for the capturing of business documents from remote sites and customer locations. Businesses are able to work faster and more efficiently as a result, by being able to immediately process important documentation like new contracts or sales orders. When applied to key business processes, such as accounts payable and accounts receivable, this can improve cash flow and can help to save costs."

The P-215 is a perfect solution for businesses with employees working remotely with a number of technological advancements. At 15 pages per minute (or 30ipm) using just a single USB cable connection, the P-215 offers the fastest portable scanning speed in the market. With a 20-sheet automatic document feeder you can also scan multiple pages in one quick step. It scans a variety of media including ID and embossed card, and scans directly to leading cloud-hosted applications such as GoogleDocsTM, Evernote and SharePoint.

ISVs and VARs can provide highly customised and integrated customer solutions

The imageFORMULA P-215 enables software developers to create bespoke solutions through available plug-in SDKs1 for both CaptureOnTouch and the embedded CaptureOnTouch Lite software. ISVs and developers can also integrate their software solutions and create connectivity to their own cloud-based applications with the P-215, delivering a seamless solution that supports their clients' individual workflows with preconfigured scanning jobs. The SDK for CaptureOnTouch Lite uniquely allows ISVs to develop their own software connectivity directly on the P-215 portable scanner.

Sean Suematsu continues, "The imageFORMULA P-215 gives ISVs and the software developer community a unique opportunity to add value to their clients' businesses with customised scanning solutions."

The imageFORMULA P-215 will be available across Europe from early January 2012 priced at £257/€295.
