announces the Creative®
WebCam(tm) Pro eX. This attractive looking unit includes
an advanced CCD sensor, chosen to give the best possible results in stills,
video and videoconferencing. Available from the end of October, the Webcam Pro
eX will cost £59.99 incl. VAT.
For users who demand outstanding performance in a
tethered webcam, the WebCam Pro eX is the perfect choice and an essential
component in any desktop PC environment. It is also an ideal companion for a
notebook PC, thanks to the special adapter which enables it to be clipped to the
display allowing it to be used by the growing number of business and home users,
who own notebooks either as second systems or as desktop replacements.
In order to offer users outstanding visual performance,
the Creative development team turned to digital camera technology and chose a
CCD sensor, with 640x480 resolution, to deliver extremely well defined stills
and video. This approach satisfies the needs of the more demanding user and
makes the system ideal for business applications as well as home use. The WebCam
Pro eX captures crisp, detailed still images up to 1024x768 (interpolated) or
video at up to 640x480 and up to 30 frames per second, even in poor lighting.
The system also supports up to 24-bit colour, further enhancing the quality of
the images it captures. A USB 1.1 interface ensures easy connection and offers
users broad compatibility.
To satisfy the growing demand for videoconferencing, a
headset microphone and Microsoft® NetMeeting® are bundled with the WebCam Pro eX,
making it ready to use 'out of the box' in the on-line, interactive environment.
Other software includes Creative PC-CAM Center, which gives the user complete
control over camera settings, image capture and archiving; Creative WebCam
Monitor, which uses sophisticated motion detection to take a snapshot when
anybody or anything gets near the WebCam and can even upload the image to a web
site. Finally, Ulead PhotoExpress 4.0 My Custom Edition, is award-winning
software for photo editing, image enhancement and creativity. The system's
motion detection capability is also compatible with Sony® PlayStation® 2 games
such as 'Police 24/7', from Konami®.
