29th November, 2005 – ASUSTeK Computer Inc (ASUS) have set a new benchmark for X1800XT out of the box clock speeds with the launch of the EAX1800XT Top. With the core clock speed set to 700Mhz and memory running at a blistering 1.6GHz (800MHz DDR3) it looks set to be one of the fastest single GPU cards on the market.
As if producing the fastest clocked graphics card is not enough, Asus are bundling the official King Kong game, following an exclusive deal with Universal Pictures. The bundle package will also incorporate the XitePad gamepad, meaning a total value add of around £60.
The EAX1800XT Top will join a slew of nVidia cards at the top of the performance market, but priced at £465 inc. VAT it will be cheaper than 7800GTX 512Mb models, and will provide similar performance.
Asus conducted benchmarking tests using 3DMark05 and found that uniquely, the EAX1800XT Top outperforms the 7800GTX 512Mb on standard clock speeds:-
Card | 3dMark05 Score |
---|---|
EN7800GT Dual | 10,461 |
EAX1800XT Top | 9,697 |
EN7800GTX 512Mb | 9,560 |
EAX1800XT | 8,760 |
EN7800GTX TOP (256Mb) | 8,490 |
EN7800GTX (256Mb) | 7,574 |
Running at 1024x768 resolution. Test rig: AMD FX-55 2.6G-200-1M, Asus A8N-SLI R1.02, 512M DDR2 *2. Latest ATi/nVidia stable release drivers
In actual game play, performance will vary between ATi and nVidia GPUs, although the astonishing EN7800GT Dual is likely to keep its ultimate performance crown in virtually all circumstances!
The EAX1800XT TOP adopts advanced visual technology standards, including Shader Model 3.0, High Dynamic Rendering (HDR), and support for high-resolution LCD up to 2560 x 1600. In additional to industry-leading specifications, the graphics cards also incorporated exclusive innovations found only on ASUS solutions.

Key ASUS Features
ASUS GameReplay: Practice makes perfect, and that holds true in gaming as well. For popular LAN (local area network) party team games such as Counter Strike and Unreal Tournaments, strategy is the key to victory. GameReplay records gaming action into MPEG4 video files so that teams can review all the moves and tactics to improve for the next tournament. The recorded files can also be used as screen savers or posted on blogs.
GameLiveShow: Just like people who share their lives and thoughts on blogs, expert gamers often want to show off their perfectly executed strategies and five-hit combinations. GameLiveShow is created to allow gamers to stream broadcast their gaming experiences live over the Internet. Other players can now go online to check out how the experts really do it.
GameFace Messenger: A user-friendly interface similar to those of the most popular messenger services to streamline the process of inviting multiple players to a “gameference” (game conference). Simply register, log on and start the fun. GameFace Messenger is as easy as the free messengers currently in the market.
Splendid Video Intelligence Technology: Built into the driver of ASUS graphics cards, Splendid detects activation and usage of video applications and automatically optimizes image quality for the best visual results. Splendid further provides five modes for best visual results in different video applications (Standard, Game, Theater, Scenery and Night)
