FREMONT, CA (September 15, 2005) – Chaintech Computer Co. today announced a pair of mainstream graphics cards, which deliver everything the Home Theatre PC users need for output as well as enough power for graphics-intensive applications and 3D gaming at a modest price.
Chaintech’s Volari V5 (SAV5) graphics card features XGI Technology’s Volari V5 chipset. The Apogee VA62A-G2 utilizes nVIDIA’s GeForce 6200A chipset. Both graphics cards have native AGP 8x support to lower the costs. They also feature 128/256MB DDR2 support, as well as all the outputs HTPC users and 3D gamers need with D-Sub VGA out, HDTV output, DVI-I, and bundled S-Video cable.
Either video card is an outstanding choice for anyone who wants advanced technology at a lower price, which is still based on the AGP interface. Display resolution support ranges from 60-200 (256/65k/16.7 million colors) at 640x480 resolution to 60-85 at 2048x1536 resolution on both cards.
Chaintech’s SAV5 features XGI trademarked Cipher Video Processor, which utilizes an advanced de-interlacing technology to play video files with smooth, flicker-free and fluid motion. The Cipher video processor converts both incoming and outgoing video feeds to ensure that videos are displayed with the highest possible on-screen quality. The card also incorporates XGI’s ColorAmp Engine, which analyzes the on-screen environment and automatically optimizes color intensity and gamma levels to provide the most accurate on-screen color and display brightness.
XGI’s proprietary Intelli-Vision Engine is also a central feature of the SAV5. The Intelli-Vision Engine makes calculated adjustments to display brightness when entering 3D mode, to provide clear and sharp graphics for gaming applications.
Other features of the SAV5 include: 128-bit advanced memory interface; 256-bit 3D/2D graphics engine; 400/500 MHz memory clock; 6.4GB/sec memory bandwidth (400MHz); 8.0GB/sec memory bandwidth (500MHz); built-in thermal diode for GPU security-update; eight sets high performance pixel rendering pipelines. Chaintech bundles a graphics driver and utility, and Adobe Photoshop Album 1.0 with each board.
The MSRP of the Chaintech SAV5 is $49.00 (USA).
Chaintech’s Apogee VA62A-G2 extends the life of AGP-based desktop PCs. The card is based on nVIDIA’s proven 6000 series and is available in 128 and 256MB memory versions. Because these cards use the same technology found in nVIDIA’s 6000 series line makes them among the only graphics cards in their class with Shader Model 3.0 support and capable of producing outstanding special effects. CineFX 3.0 engine and PureVideo, UltraShadow II and Intellisample 3.0 technology are technologies exclusive to nVIDIA to deliver more realistic graphic environments with true to life textures and shadows. Intellisample 3.0 removes the jagged edges that appear on curves or diagonal lines in games.
The Apogee VA62A-G2 features on-chip video acceleration to take the strain off the CPU when watching or encoding video.
Standard features on the Apogee VA62a-G2 include: 700 MHz memory clock; 5.6 GB/sec memory bandwidth; and Microsoft DirectX Shader Model 3.0. Chaintech’s software bundle for this board includes WinDVD 5 (6 Channel); WinDVD Creator 2; WinRip 2.1; Home Theater 2.1 Lite; DVD Copy 2 Lite and Adobe Photoshop Album 1.0.
The list price for the Apogee VA62A-G2 is $79 for the 128MB version and $89 for the 256MB version.
