A chance to achieve international recognition for your work!
Creative publishing service, Blurb, has launched its Photography.Book.Now (PBN) Competition to help photographers create their own photography books and achieve international recognition for their work.
Entires into the competition are now being accepted and the closing date is July 14th 2008. The winner will be awarded $25,000 and a trip to San Francisco where the winners will be announced on September 12th 2008. Competition sponsors include Livebooks, Flickr, SmugMug, American Photo, Photo District News (PDN), and JPG Magazine.
If you don't yet have a photography book, Blurb's free book-making software, Blurb BookSmart, can be downloaded at blurb.com. Once your book is ready for entry, you'll be able to enter in one of two categories, general and themed:
- The General category celebrates the diversity of the photographic medium and gives entrants the creative freedom to produce the book of their choice.
- The Themed category invites any topic, concept or collection of work that demonstrates how photography can create a narrative in book form.
Judging entries will be a panel of editors, publishers, curators and photographers, led by world-renowned photographer, Darius Himes.
Eileen Gittins, Blurb’s founder and CEO said:
"Most photographers, whether photography is their day job or they wish that it could be, want to see their work published."
"To affordably make a book of one’s own photography, with complete creative control, is a liberating, exciting, highly personal and satisfying experience. That’s what Photography.Book.Now should inspire: Photographers can now make the coffee table books they’ve always wanted, with a real chance to gain worldwide recognition and win a tremendous prize."
We're well aware of the talented users contributing to our HEXUS photography forum and look forward to seeing some reader entries.
