More price drops on the way, too

According to a report over on CNET, Sony are phasing out the 20Gb PS3 leaving just their 60Gb and 80Gb version on the market.

Some reckon this could leave the way open for a further price from Sony in an attempt to claw back some ground from Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii. Given that upgrading the HDD in a PS3 is simply a case of undoing a screw and slapping in a larger drive, surely Sony should keep a budget machine on the market?

After all, the Xbox 360 Core pack still sells well now and give consumers on a budget a less expensive option.

no suprise really, we dont even get it in the UK
Sony already (a long time ago…January?) said they phased out the 20GB model. Currently they have two models here. The 60GB with EE for $500 and 80GB one without EE for $600. The stocks of the 60GB with EE model will dwindle sometime and barring and price drops, we will be once again left with a single $600 PS3.
