Police from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington have shot dead an 18 year old man who was accused of assaulting a student before he stole two PS3s. In this tragic story, Peyton Strickland and his dog were shot by police who attended his home to arrest him for the alleged offence.

Police barged their way into the home, where Stickland lived with three room-mates. Three deputy sheriffs who were involved in the incident have been sent home on paid leave.

"If this boy would've come to the door, opened the door, we probably wouldn't be talking," the sheriff said.

what a surprise from the Land of the free-to-shoot-guns
“If this boy would've come to the door, opened the door, we probably wouldn't be talking”

So he's saying they shot him because he didn't open the door to the police…?
that is awful, surely they have to have some proper evidence to act on to go around shooting people?

but as he was only a student living with his room mates that would have been awful for them. i dont know what the lad was like, or the actual motion of the incident (or how the whole thing played out) but still there is going to be a lot of uproar from the local residents.

I just hate things like this. Perhaps the guy was armed, I don't know, but it's still a tragic story.

Check out the Headline for more info.

It may be a tragic story, or it may be some student that terrorised the Community college the whole time he was there.
After all, he was accused both of the armed robbery to get those consoles, and of assault of another student in a different incident.
If he is the kind of person that these incidents siggest, then i'd say the only tragedy is that his dog was also killed.
Note I am not saying he deserved to die if he was guilty - far from it, but simply that if he is guilty of those, I dont think him being shot dead is a tragedy :)
Wow thats america for you :S love to use there guns.
but if it was armed robbery then he asked for it as cops over there kill suspects instead of disarming them over here.
