The Xbox 360 has become the fastest selling console in Australia, for now, with over 100,000 units sold since March this year. 30,000 of those units were sold within the first four days of the console landing in the shops, making gross profits totalling more than the Harry Potter books or the Lord of the Rings movies.

Microsoft still need to sell another 28,000 if they want to beat the record held by Nintendo for their Gameboy Advance, which sold more than 128,000 units in the first seven months.

Nevertheless, It's a milestone for Microsoft. They'll be facing plenty of competition when the Wii is released in Australia in December and Sony have also made it clear that they forecast to sell over 200,000 PS2s in Australia between now and the end of the year.
