Miyamoto goes on record
In an interview with the Edmonton Sun, Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto has stepped forward to air his views on Sony's new console by saying that, "They're(Sony) talking about the next generation of the same old video games, it's the same old experiences with new graphics. And while there are people who enjoy that, we're really talking about the next leap in interactive entertainment, and really bringing interactive entertainment not just to video game fans but to everyone."Miyamoto also commented on the PS3 controller and took the opportunity to further ram home the fact that the Wii controller has far more versatility , “What they've done is just take your standard controller and add in this motion-sensing device that's similar to what we did back on the Game Boy Color many years ago," he said. "Maybe if they were to completely copy and go with a remote and a nunchuk and two motion sensors, I might be a little more concerned. But I don't think they're anywhere close to that."
These comments follow on from Nintendo U.K boss David Yarnton's comments last week, when he blatantly accused Sony of copying the Wii controller.
We're only on the day one of the working week and it's already started badly for Sony. Earlier today we reported that three of the PS3 launch titles will be delayed, although Sony's David Reeves has defended the delays by saying Sony has “built up a certain brand equity over time since the launch of PlayStation in 1995 and PS2 in 2000 that the first five million are going to buy it, whatever it is, even (if) it didn't have games." Really?
