Xbox 360

Xbox-Scene have apparently received a picture that they claim shows an Xbox 360 motherboard with a HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) port.

The image could have been tampered with, but if true, would confirm Microsoft's plans to incorporate HDMI connectivity to the Xbox 360. The HDMI port would function as a digital output, to take advantage of an external Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive.

Microsoft have already told us that they have no plans to create an internal HD-DVD drive, but are currently working on an external version.

The external drive will attach to the console via a USB cable and will provide video resolutions of up to six times the resolution of current DVDs and superior digital multi-channel, surround sound effects.

There's a split in opinion regarding the validity of the picture and one Xbox Scene forum member reveals why, "the horizontal transposition is a dead giveaway, but you can tell also by the xbox1 molex fan connector in the faked picture - it is a xbox1 mobo." Other members believe that the picture is real and some say they will be frustrated if Microsoft announce this internal drive, especially since they have only just bought a current premium model.

Expect a statement from Microsoft soon with a headline along the lines of 'Microsoft deny HDMI port'.
