An app called Tripmate 247 that claims to be the world's first application to let users book all their travel needs from their phone has launched exclusively on Windows Phone 7.

Built by Maintrack, the free app allows people to book flights, hotels, rental cars, events and tickets for tourist attractions in a choice of  languages and currencies from their WP7 handset.

It is also compatible with the Tripmate 247 website so all booking information is synchronised between the mobile and web. The firm said all itinerary information is stored in a ‘personal travel viewer' that can be shared via email and SMS.

"Over 55% of people book their travel online in the UK today and increasingly they want the flexibility to do what they can do on their computer on their mobile phone. Now for the first time, with tripmate247, people can browse and book the travel experience they want on the go," said Marcel Kalsbeek, co-founder of MainTrack.

The app will be rolled out worldwide on WP7 starting with the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

It will get an early update in November and December of this year with extras like weather updates, visa notifications, currency exchange rates, check-in details and live flight info added. Users will also be able to share booking information via Facebook and LinkedIn in the future.
