Finally the day has arrived, the future, the day where limits become limitless. T-Mobile UK has just launched its new contract plan, 'The Full Monty'.
Why limitless? The plan features unlimited internet, BT Openzone WiFi, calls and texts. For those who enjoy the wonders of 3G tethering, you my be thinking that the catch is a fair usage policy on the internet? If so you'd be wrong, T-Mobile claims that the plan offers truly unlimited internet, that may be used however one likes, including to tether to other devices. There is a small catch for those looking towards the lowest package however, calls to other networks are actually limited to 2,000 minutes, with the package only unlimited across the T-Mobile network, all other packages are truely unlimited.
The plan will be available from February 1st, both in stores, on-line and through partners. The plan features four price brackets and will be for a 24 month period:
Price Per Month | Phones and costs |
£36 | iPhone 4S 16GB £99 iPhone 4 8GB, Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation XE FREE |
£41 | iPhone 4S 16GB £29 BlackBerry 99003 FREE |
£46 | iPhone 4S 16GB FREE |
£61 | iPhone 4S 64GB £29 iPhone 4S 32GB FREE |
"Over the past two years we've seen a rise in mobile internet use of over 250 per cent, which reflects the consumer trend of being 'always on' wherever they are. However, consumers also still want to retain a more personal level of communication by calling or sending a text ... The Full Monty has been designed for customers who want the peace of mind that there are absolutely no limits placed on their allowances, whilst also knowing that they're getting value for money." stated T-Mobile head of propositions, Ben Fritsch.
The new plan looks to compete with Three's 'All You can Eat' offering, which also serves up unlimited internet.
Frankly, we're just happy to see the UK mobile market push forwards with new, competitive offerings, however this writer has been impressed; he may have to give up the dreams of a yearly upgrade, but the prospects of unlimited usage and perhaps a Samsung Galaxy S III come April are rather appealing. It'll perhaps be interesting to observe how this plan evolves after the eventual introduction of 4G.
